Two Airport Websites Defaced

Airlines

The official websites of the Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram airports in India were defaced yesterday. A message was posted on the websites, suggesting that the attack was carried out by Pakistani hacker group Pak Cyber Attackers. The websites were restored approximately 30 minutes after the attack. Investigations are ongoing.

Comments: Pak Cyber Attackers has been one of the most active Pakistani hacker groups that target Indian websites in retaliation against Indian hackers’ attacks on Pakistan servers. The hacker group typically uses website defacement against targeted websites because it embarrasses the target organisation and can infect visitors to the website with exploit kits or malicious codes embedded in images. Organisations should subscribe to website monitoring services to receive prompt alerts when their websites are hijacked or defaced. This will reduce recovery time and potential disruptions to business operations.
